Bill and Eileen Kopp fell in love with Naples, Florida, on their honeymoon in 1956 and moved there in 1983. They strongly believe in supporting local healthcare, which is why they have made numerous gifts to NCH Healthcare Foundation, including establishing a trust funded with investments that pays them income.

“We had real estate holdings in Ohio and were making Naples our home; by placing the holdings in a charitable remainder trust, we were able to realize income and save taxes,” the Kopps explain.

Their gift qualifies them as new members of the Banyan Society for those who make planned gifts. They also are on the Medical Diplomats Council, a society for those who make annual gifts of $5,000 or more.

Bill and Eileen are Cincinnati natives who met in high school in the 1950s and decided to honeymoon in Florida. “Naples was a beautiful little town with one motel,” they recall. “We visited the Naples pier, looked out at the town, and decided we would live in Naples some day.”

They summer in Asheville, North Carolina, and enjoy spending time with their two children and three grandchildren. Their support for NCH Healthcare System is “about how you feel in having the good fortune to live in Naples.”

“We need to support NCH in order to have good healthcare right here at home—for ourselves and for our children, who will probably move here as well,” they say. “The NCH leadership is good, the management is good. We don’t want to go anywhere else.”
